Yard Waste Collection

Collection
The Township of Langley picks up yard and garden trimmings each week from single-family homes. Collection occurs on the same day that garbage and recycling are picked up.

Acceptable Yard Trimmings Containers

Rigid containers, Kraft paper bags, and tied bundles are all acceptable ways of putting out yard trimmings. 
Note: Yard Trimmings are NOT accepted in plastic bags. There is no limit on the number of containers set out. Yard trimmings can be placed in:

  • Rigid Containers: maximum size - 80 litres (21 gal);  maximum weight - 20 kg (44 lbs); must have fixed (non-swivel) handles 
  • Kraft Paper Bags: maximum weight - 20 kg (44 lbs)

Additionally, twigs and branches can be bundled using garden string or twine
(no wire, nylon rope, or plastic strapping).

  • Maximum branch size is 1m (3 ft) in length and 7.5 cm (3 in) in diameter

Maximum bundle, container, or bag weight is 20 kg (44 lbs)

Please place trimmings separate from garbage and recycling.

Set out before 7:30 a.m. on collection day.

Decals for container identification (free of charge) can be obtained from:

Place the decal on the side of the yard trimmings container so it is visible to collection crews. This will help ensure yard trimmings containers are not confused with garbage containers.
